The new Fiat Tipo is deceptively roomy, being capable of accommodating three six-feet plus adult passengers in the rear of the car. Its boot capacity is also best-in-class with a volume of over 440 litres, with the station wagon version even adding an extra 110 litres of space, which means the car can carry loads up to 1.8m in length courtesy of its flip and fold 60/40 split rear seats. Loading the boot of the Station Wagon is aided by a low load sill with reconfiguration components such as an adjustable load floor and removable side storage panels. The Fiat Tipo features numerous cabin compartments with a variety of shapes and capacities totaling 12 litres of extra storage space.
In terms of the model range, the Hatchback and the Station Wagon will both be available in three different trim levels, for which the names of these UK trim levels are still being decided upon. The entry-level trim level is equipped with; air-conditioning, remote central locking front electric windows, six airbags, a usb port, Bluetooth connectivity and DAB digital radio, to name just a few of the cars features. The station wagon also adds rear electric windows and longitudinal roof bars. Additional options for the entry level version include; Dark tinted windows, 16" alloy wheels, rear parking sensors and a 5" Uconnect touchscreen which contains live services, DAB radio and Sat Nav.
The mid-range trim levels adds a 5" Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system, a leather trimmed steering wheel and gear knob, rear power windows and 16" alloy wheels to name just a few of the cars features. However this does come at an additional cost of £1,000 in comparison to the entry level trim. On Unconnect, the live services enable you to stream music with Deezer and TuneIn, gather news from Reuters and provides the ability to stay in touch with friends through Facebook check-in and Twitter, as well as monitoring vehicle performance, efficiency and maintenance. Additional options for this trim level include the following; a Sat Nav upgrade, a comfort pack and two different types of safety pack.
The top trim level much like the mid range level is priced at just over £1,000 more than its predecessor. This trim level includes all of the features which are additional options for the mid range trim, i.e. the upgraded Sat Nav, safety packs etc.
Since the Tipo was revealed to the world at the 2015 Istanbul Motorshow and its presentation to the press last November, the Fiat has collected the prestigious Autobest "Best Buy Car 2016" award, where the winner is chosen by a jury of 26 International Journalists. The new Fiat Tipo goes on general sale in the UK in September, in both the hatchback and station wagon body styles.
