Infiniti unwrapped its striking new Q60 sports coupé for the crowds at the 2016 North American Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. The model has been designed and engineered with performance at its core, combining a striking look with an exhilarating driving dynamic.
The production Q60 draws inspiration from the original concept that was first revealed at NAIAS in 2015. It keeps the concept’s sharp folds and tight angles on a body that is lean, powerful and elegant.
The driving dynamic confirms that the car doesn’t just look energetic, but acts it too. Staying true to the brand’s reputation for producing strong six-cylinder powertrains, the Q60 is fitted with a 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo engine from the firm’s VR powertrain family. Of the two power outputs that are available, the biggest 395bhp unit offers one of the best power-to-efficiency ratios in the sports coupé class.
“The Infiniti Q60 conveys a powerful elegance through its daring design, next-generation ride and handling technologies, and powertrains offering up to 395bhp,” commented Roland Krueger, President of Infiniti Motor Company. “The Q60 will attract new customers to the Infiniti brand and affirm our position in the sports coupé segment.”
The optional Dynamic Digital Suspension which delivers sharp responses from the handling, and Direct Adaptive Steering, which improves the level of feedback through the wheel, are two examples of this technology. A Drive Mode Selector also allows the driver to customise the car’s steering responses to match their preference.
The arrival of the Infiniti Q60 coincides with a period of rapid growth for the brand, which has enjoyed a record 215,250 new vehicle sales in 2015, a year-on-year increase of 16 percent. Joining the Q60 are updated versions of the Infiniti Q50 sports saloon and QX60 crossover as more evidence of the firm’s commitment to capturing more of the UK market.
The new Q60 sports coupé will soon go on sale at FG Barnes’ Infiniti Centre in Maidstone. Enquire with a member of the team to test drive the model as soon as it arrives
