CUPRA Born awarded a five-star safety rating by Euro NCAP

In a nutshell:

  • CUPRA Born achieves Euro NCAP’s highest safety rating
  • Born scored highly in all four categories: adult occupant (93%), child occupant (89%), vulnerable road users (73%) and safety assist (80%)
  • CUPRA Formentor and CUPRA Leon have previously both achieved five star ratings

CUPRA Born has continued CUPRA’s record of outstanding performance during the European New Car Assessment Programme’s (Euro NCAP’s) safety testing, achieving a maximum five-star rating.

It is a significant result for CUPRA Born, which joins CUPRA Formentor and CUPRA Leon as five-star cars. This highlights the brand’s commitment to delivering vehicles that mix contemporary performance with maximum safety.

“CUPRA is committed not only to bring emotions to the electric world, but also the highest safety standards to the market,” said Dr. Werner Tietz, Executive Vice-President for Research and Development at CUPRA. “We’ve proven this before with CUPRA Formentor and CUPRA Leon, and now we’ve continued our commitment to safety with the CUPRA Born’s five-star rating.”

CUPRA Born: amongst the safest cars on the market

CUPRA Born’s scores were impressive across all of Euro NCAP’s tests: Adult Occupant 93 per cent, Child Occupant 89 per cent, Vulnerable Road User 73 per cent and Safety Assist 80 per cent.

Since Euro NCAP re-evaluated its testing procedures, CUPRA has worked hard to make sure its vehicles continue to score highly.

Wide range of safety systems

CUPRA Born’s achievement was partly due to its wide range of safety systems including:

  • Autonomous emergency braking
  • Traffic sign recognition
  • Travel assist
  • Light assist
  • Pre-crash assist
  • Seven airbags, including a standard front-central airbag
  • Front assist
  • Pedestrian and cyclist detection
