Parts Manager

Due to the expansion and development of the FG Barnes Group, our thriving and growing DAF Guildford business is seeking to recruit a Parts Manager.

Reports to Dealer Principal

Principal duties and responsibilities

• Recruit, train and motivate, and review correct amount of staff to meet both manufacturer and company objectives
• Ensure that the correct amount and content of parts stock to meet vehicle parc and customer demands
• Exceed whenever possible manufacturer bonus targets
• Work to ensure company targets and budgets are met or exceeded
• Forecast goals, objectives and action plans for the department and strive to meet them
• Ensure parts and accessories are available for resale
• Encourage and demonstrate teamwork with all other departments
• Work with the Service Manager to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for Warranty and Customer workshop jobs
• Establish and maintain purchasing policies including purchase orders, inventory guide figures, order codes
• Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the parts department
• Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with new product introductions and any legislation that may affect parts sales
• Establish and maintain programs designed to train, develop and motivate department employees
• Direct and schedule the activities of all parts department employees
• Provide technical assistance to parts department employees
• Monitor parts department employees' payroll records
• Develop, enforce and monitor guidelines for working with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction
• Establish and enforce a pricing policy that balances volume, customer loyalty, and the cost of doing business
• Monitor and adjust inventory to minimise obsolescence
• Ensure full participation by staff in all manufacturer training and incentive programs
• Maintain a professional appearance
