We are a family-owned company established since 1899 and have locations in Guildford, Maidstone, Canterbury and Shoreham representing Vauxhall, Nissan, Fiat, Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, MG, SEAT, CUPRA and DAF Brands. As part of our continued growth plans, we are looking to recruit a high calibre individual to join the FG Barnes Group at our DAF Shoreham branch as a Service Manager.

  • Technicians
  • Service Advisor
  • Workshop Controller
  • Service Drivers & Cleaners
  • Warranty Administrator

Main Purpose of Job:

  • To develop Labour, Lubricant, Sublet, Tyre, Service, Direct Costs and all related items, to achieve financial targets
  • To organise, direct and control the activities of Service Advisors and administrative support, ensuring optimum use of all financial policies
  • To ensure good customer relations are maintained at all times to achieve above national average CSI score for all brands

Responsibilities & Other Personal Activities:

  • Develop and agree revenue sales plans and budgets to achieve financial, marketing and sales targets including:
  • Describe and assess labour sales potentials and forecasts, develop operating expense and capital budgets, agree plans and budgets with the Director and inform the productive & non-productive team to ensure maximum commitment and motivation
  • Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of the support team to ensure: maximum up selling and effective handling of all service activities
  • Maintain DOC, OTDB and other relevant documents and logs
  • Ensure strict adherence to workshop control systems
  • Develop and interpret company policies to sub-ordinates; analyse and resolve all related problems smoothly and in a timely manner
  • Promote motivation and commission plans for Service Team to ensure achievement of revenue targets
  • Provide guidance and training to all Service Team members to improve their job performance, with particular emphasis on: Upselling and customer follow up, time management, sales aids, product knowledge and all related items
  • Carry out timely monthly performance reviews with all Technicians and the Service Teams
  • Recommend and initiate personnel actions for subordinate Team members including promotion, discharges, discipline, recruitment and selection
  • Establish administrative procedures and policies to assist the smooth handling of all business and adequate maintenance of records including: Prospect systems, follow up call records, management meetings, revenue analyses, trading policies and all related items
  • To do everything necessary in order to ensure the department either meets or exceed financial plan
